He sailed for South Africa from Albert Docks England aboard the 'Montrose' 11 February 1900. He was evacuated from South Africa to UK on the 'Bavarian' 14 February 1901. Arthur was a great grandson of John Macarthur. His father Captain R.N. Arthur Alexander Walton ONSLOW and his brothers Colonel James William Macarthur-Onslow and Lt. Colonel George Macleay Macarthur-Onslow D.S.O. all had distinguished careers Onslow Street Canterbury, Sydney was named by Canterbury Council "as a memorial to a brave officer who had fallen in the Empire's cause". Captain Arthur William Macarthur Onslow was serving with the British Forces 16th Queens Lancers when he was killed in action near Ypres, Belgium, in early November 1914 age 37. |
